GLENVILLE -- The Musicians of Ma'alwyck will perform Sept. 15 at a dinner and concert to raise money for the restoration of the historic Yates Mansion, which was purchased in March by the town of Glenville.
The event will take place at River Stone Manor on Route 5, with a dinner at 6 p.m. and a concert featuring flute, violin and guitar music from the late 1700s and early 1800s. The group is known for crafting concerts for historic occasions.
Wolf Hollow Brewing will also sell a special "Yates Brew" for the occasion, and a local artist's painting of the mansion will be unveiled.
The town bought the mansion for $100,000 amid concerns about its possible sale and demolition. The town hopes to turn it into a history center and community meeting place. The mansion on Maple Avenue was once the home of Joseph Yates, the only governor of New York to come from Schenectady County.
Tickets are $75 per person and are available at the town clerk's office or by mailing a check to the Historic Yates Mansion Benefit Concert, c/o Town of Glenville, 18 Glenridge Road, Glenville NY, 12302. More information is available online at Glenville2020.com.
