SCHENECTADY -- A burglary suspect inadvertently left some incriminating evidence at the scene of a burglary, according to city police.

Kirk Panneton, 34, of Fairview Avenue, faces burglary and attempted burglary charges related to two incidents on Aug. 29 on Fifth Street, according to court documents.

He is accused of trying to enter a home by removing porch screens and damaging an outside doorknob before gaining entry to a locked garage, according to court documents.

Panneton made off with a weed whacker but left behind his cellphone, according to court documents. Police found the phone and arrested him later that day at his residence, according to the court documents.
