Mekeel Christian Academy was burglarized sometime late Tuesday or early Wednesday, Scotia Police Chief Peter Frisoni said last week.

Police think more than one person was involved in damaging a projector screen, scrawling an obscenity directed at a Mekeel staff member on a whiteboard and defecating in a classroom after gaining access to the school without breaking and entering.

Mekeel head of school Chad Bowman said Friday that the school had no comment about the incident.

Frisoni said there wasn’t permanent damage and that the school had cleaned up the mess. He said the only thing that appeared to be missing was a Wi-Fi extender.

“From what I was told it didn’t take much to clean up,” Frisoni said.

He said police were investigating the incident as a burglary and criminal mischief, and were following up to see if there was video surveillance.

Police regularly check on the school, Frisoni said, and patrol officers were notified of the incident.

“We certainly are very visible around the school,” he said.
