Adirondack Marathon this weekend canceled because of expected heat

Adirondack Marathon this weekend canceled because of expected heat

The Half Marathon, however, is still on.

SCHROON LAKE - Hot, humid weather expected for this weekend has led organizers of the Adirondack Marathon to cancel this Sunday's race.

The half-marathon race, however, will still be run. People registered for the marathon have the option of running the shorter course or deferring their registration until next year.

"This decision was made after careful analysis in consultation with our medical team and race managers concerning the health risks to the marathon runners," organizers of the event said on the event web page.

Marathon runners are invited to run the half marathon and will receive a marathon medal. Runners will be shuttled by bus from Schroon Lake Village starting at 7:45 am to the half marathon start in Adirondack.
