SCHENECTADY — A 22-year-old city resident died Tuesday from injuries he suffered Monday evening when the motorcycle he was riding crashed in Mont Pleasant, police said.

The accident call came in about 5:20 p.m. in the area of Cutler Street and Fifth Avenue. Officers found the rider in the street and the badly damaged motorcycle nearby. He was taken to Ellis Hospital, where he later died, police said.

Police identified the man as James Fournier.

The cause of the accident was still under investigation, but a preliminary review indicated excessive speed was a factor, police said.
