CLIFTON PARK — Jerry Gretzinger leads a double life.
Or at least he will be this weekend.
During the day, he’s a regular on WNYT 13. But at night, he’ll take to the stage to play Jerry Jerome in the Not So Common Players production “Women in My Life.”
The show, to be staged Saturday to Sunday at the Hilton Garden Inn, chronicles the complicated life of the Grammy-award winning performer. Things get a little harried when Jerome decides to hire his ex-wife, his ex-girlfriend, and his current girlfriend to be in his backup trio.
Jay Kerr, the director and writer of the show, based much of the production on his own life.
Gretzinger, who has worked with Kerr in the past, said it was interesting to portray him. Another interesting angle to the role, said Gretzinger, is that he stars alongside his wife, Erin Gretzinger, who plays Jerry Jerrome's girlfriend.
“You know sometimes we say ‘Oh I hate that I have to say this to you,’” Gretzinger said. But Gretzinger said they always leave their characters onstage.
The one-act musical comedy hits the stage after a dinner provided by Mazzone Hospitality.
