One person was killed in a Friday night house fire on Merion Avenue, the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies said responding units found heavy smoke and fire coming out of an upstairs window at the house, located at 2 Merion Ave., about 8:30 p.m.
Crews were told at least one person was still inside.
Responding Saratoga County deputies and New York State Police troopers tried to enter the building, but were stopped by the smoke and fire conditions.
After the fire was contained, one person was found dead inside the house.
Police said they are trying to establish the deceased’s identity, as well as the cause of the fire. Saturday the investigation was continuing.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by New York State Police, Saratoga County Fire Cause and Origin Team, Jonesville Fire Department, Round Lake Fire Department, Clifton Park Fire Department and Vischer Ferry Fire Department.
