SCHENECTADY -- A man was arrested Tuesday after police said he chased his wife through the city, pointed what appeared to be a gun at her and used his taxi to ram her car.
Shamik T. Miley, 22, of Bradford Street, now faces a host of charges, including felony contempt and several misdemeanor counts -- stalking among them -- according to court documents.
The incident happened between 9 and 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, as Miley repeatedly chased the woman through the city using his work vehicle, a taxi.
"At any opportunity, the defendant would exit his vehicle and approach the victim and yell threats," police said. He also appeared to threaten her with a gun at one point, at Broadway and Campbell Avenue, though he was not charged with having a gun.
The woman had an order of protection against Miley, according to police.
Later in the evening, at about 11:45 p.m., Miley caught up with the car being driven by his wife and intentionally struck it using his taxi near the corner of Craig Street and Delamont Avenue. Damage was estimated at about $200, according to court documents. No injuries were reported.
Miley faces two felony counts of first-degree criminal contempt and one count each of fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree menacing, fourth-degree stalking, reckless driving and two traffic infractions.
