ALBANY -- Fresh from “The Voice,” Moriah Formica is set to play Lucky Strike Social's Jupiter Hall twice this weekend.

The Shaker High School Junior stunned audiences and judges alike first with “Crazy on You,” which she performed for her blind audition. Every judge commented on the sheer power of her voice, Adam Levine likened her to a “pint-sized powerhouse.” Formica eventually joined Miley Cyrus’ team and worked with her for the next few rounds before Formica’s stint came to an end last week.

But Formica’s career is in no way on hold, with a show on Friday and an encore show on Sunday.

According to Joshua Formica (Moriah’s father), when Formica announced the Friday show at Jupiter Hall, it sold out within a week. Shane Spillenger, the promoter for Jupiter Hall, started receiving tons of calls asking for other tickets, but they had to cap it at 750 for the Friday show.

Tickets, which are set at $10 at the door, are selling fairly well for the Sunday show as well, according to Josh.

Back in October, Jupiter Hall hosted a viewing party for her blind audition, so Spillenger sees the weekend of double shows as a way to further support Formica.

“As a local promoter [I] want to support local musicians and that is why I took the position I did at Jupiter Hall,” Spillenger said, “I started working with Lucky Strike Social since their opening and they as a company and myself really wanted to give back to the music community in the Capital Region.”

Formica isn’t exactly a newbie on the local music scene either. Although she only recently garnered national attention, Formica has been locally famous for a few years now, winning the Schenectady Battle of the Bands in 2015. The following year she played with Stryper (a Christian metal band) at a club in Poughkeepsie. She also played a show at Clifton Commons.

So far, she’s released one EP, but Formica says with the end of “The Voice,” she’ll be recording new music and playing more local shows.

As of Monday, around 250 tickets were sold for the Sunday show and Spillenger expected it to sell out, with fans coming from all over the region to support Formica.
