DELMAR — Police on Wednesday named the woman whose remains were found Saturday in a wooded area.

Ruth Talmon, 70, of Schenectady County, was identified based on dental records, Bethlehem police said.

Clothing and personal property recovered at the scene did not help police identify Talmon. Police did not release her name at a Monday news conference.

Talmon traveled extensively around the Capital Region and the country, police said, but she often went without contacting family or friends for extended periods. She had not been reported missing, police said.

The autopsy ruled out foul play, police have said, but the exact cause of death remains unclear. Her body had been in the wooded area since the end of September, when she was last seen, police have said.

The investigation began late Saturday afternoon when police received a report about a hunter finding the remains.

State police and forest rangers focused Monday on 6.5 acres behind 55 Delaware Ave., police have said. Officers followed up on more than 75 leads during the investigation.
