A trio of Shenendehowa Central School District students were arrested Tuesday on drug charges, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office.
Christian J. Newkirk, 17, was arrested and charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony. Two other students, both 15, were arrested and charged with fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, also a felony. The names of those student are not being released because of their age, deputies said.
Law enforcement responded to a call from an administrator at the Shenendehowa High School East campus at about 2 p.m. Tuesday, deputies said. The administrator had reported finding a student who was allegedly in possession of a hallucinogenic substance.
The three were arrested following an investigation by the sheriff's office's School Resource Unit, deputies said.
Newkirk was processed and released. He is set to appear in Clifton Park Town Court at a later date.
The other two students were processed and released to their parents. They have been referred to Family Court.
