MALTA — A motorist was drunk last week when he crashed through a yield sign and into a light pole, state police said.

Tate M. Myers, 22, of Malta, now faces one count of aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.

Myers is accused of driving drunk on Route 67 at Luther Forest Boulevard on Thursday when he ran over the sign, proceeded over the roundabout island and struck the pole, state police said.

Troopers determined Myers had been drinking earlier in the evening and his blood alcohol content later tested at 0.21 percent, above the legal limit of 0.08. He was released to return to court later.
