AMSTERDAM — Three Amsterdam teens are facing charges in connection to two recent taxi cab robberies, police said.

Each of the teens, ranging in age from 15 to 17, face charges of first-degree robbery.

The robberies happened Dec. 27 and Jan. 1 and each involved what appeared to be a gun, police said.

In the first heist, someone called for a cab in the area of East Main and Eagle streets at about 11 p.m. Once there, two men in dark clothing approached and demanded money. They then fled on foot, police said. The second incident happened at about 7 p.m. Jan. 1, when a similar scenario played out on Slater Street.

Detectives said they followed leads to the teens and uncovered two BB guns.

Charged are Anthony T. Kelly, 17, of 94 Upper Minaville St., Amsterdam and John Luis Graveley, 16, of 152 Forbes St., Amsterdam. Police did not name the 15-year-old due to his age.
