PALATINE BRIDGE -- A Fort Plain mother left her 6-year-old son unattended in a grocery store parking lot while she shopped, state police said Friday.
Amy M. Reese, 45, was charged Thursday with one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
The incident happened Nov. 15 outside the Price Chopper in Palatine Bridge, police said. A caller saw the boy outside a vehicle in the parking lot and called police. The caller stayed with the boy to wait for police to arrive, troopers said.
In the meantime, Reese exited the store with a cart full of groceries about 10 minutes after the call to police, police said. She identified the boy as her child and left with him before police arrived.
Police charged Reese after an investigation. She was then released to return to court later.
