CORINTH — Unsafe speed was a contributing factor in a car crash Wednesday in Corinth that killed two people, according to a preliminary investigation by the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office late Wednesday identified the victims as Genessa Marie Coon, 23, of 377 Angel Road No. 64, Corinth, and Cody M. Fitzpatrick, 21, of 19 Pauline St., Whitehall.

Coon was driving in the crash that occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday off Angel Road, near Woodcrest Acres Road. No other cars were involved.

First responders found Coon and Fitzpatrick trapped in the car, the sheriff's office said. EMS determined that both had died on the scene, the sheriff's office said Thursday.

There is no evidence of driver impairment as a factor, the sheriff's office said.
