WOODBURY, NY — Two Gloversville men face drug charges after a Thursday traffic stop on the Thruway in Orange County, state police said

Police stopped the pair at about 4:40 p.m. in the Town of Woodbury for traffic violations, police said.

After speaking to the driver, troopers gained probable cause to search the vehicle and troopers found a small bag containing cocaine residue, police said.

Troopers arrested both the driver, Joshua R. Gifford, 42, and Thomas Chandler, 36, both of Gloversville.

A later search at the station uncovered on Chandler four grams of crack cocaine and 31 grams of powder cocaine, police said.

Chandler faces two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count each of Fourth-degree and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Gifford faces one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and traffic violations.

The men were arraigned, but their bail status was unclear Friday.
