AMSTERDAM — The city has declared a snow emergency that will start at 8 a.m. Wednesday, to allow for the removal of snow.

The National Weather Service is predicting significant snowfall, with accumulations of 8 to 12 inches beginning Wednesday morning and ending during the late evening.

The snow emergency requires that all motor vehicles be removed from Amsterdam streets by 8 a.m. Wednesday. Vehicles must remain off the streets until the snow emergency is lifted, which the city estimates to be about 6 p.m. Thursday.
