It's a snow day!

The coming snowstorm has convinced many school districts — including Amsterdam, Corinth, Fonda-Fultonville and Schuylerville — to already cancel classes Wednesday.

Meteorologists with the National Weather Service in Albany say the "quick-hitting" system will arrive during the early to midmorning. Snowfall may be heavy at times.

The forecast says the Capital Region will receive between 6 to 8 inches of snow; Saratoga Springs is expected to get between 8 and 12 inches.

Sleet might also be part of the mix in the afternoon — and that could mean heavier snow for shoveling. So elderly people or those with health issues should avoid shoveling.
