Comrade Trump’s meddling in the Russia investigation should be of considerable concern to us all. However, it appears that the majority of taxpayers are ignoring what is going on because Trump’s unpresidential distracting antics are boggling our minds. His constant denigration of our intelligence institutions, because they refuse to show unbridled “loyalty” to him, is both unpatriotic and anti-democratic.
As president, he does get the privilege to nominate the attorney general and the FBI director. But historically, those functions serve the country, not the president like a cabinet appointment. Some say he’s just learning the role of president, which even some of his complicit Republican colleagues don’t buy.
Firing FBI Director James Comey and presumably leaning on Deputy Attorney General Rob Rosenstein to apparently fire Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller in order to stop the Russia investigation is another obstruction of justice example.
It sure seems like he has a lot to hide.
Why is he so paranoid? I hope Trump gets charged with obstruction, along with campaign collusion and money laundering with the Russians.
It’s time we rethink how the nation’s attorney general is chosen. Our state has the best model: Let the taxpayers elect the attorney general. That will bring accountability and a degree of trust back into how the federal government operates.
Trump is void of leadership skills. He has established a “tone at the top” which is anti-government, anti-environment and anti-democracy, and he should be removed from office. His coordinated FBI and Justice Department smear campaign with the House Republicans will hopefully backfire.
Remember when the GOP was the law-and-order and deficit-spending hawks party? No more.
