Amsterdam treated its golf pro poorly

Good luck, 'Joe the Pro'

I would just like to thank PGA professional Joseph “Joe the Pro” Merendo for his time served at Amsterdam Muni. I guess all his generosity and hiring kids and having tournaments there are in the past.

The last two Amsterdam government administrations took him over coals. I look at budgets, and the last time I’ve seen an actual number was 2012-2013. The golf course made money. The Thane administration blamed him and it negotiated the losing cart deal. This administration is doing same thing. I guess this administration thinks it can do better. Let me know how you make out. The “Pro” spent 32 years at the course. How many of you council members golfed or even know where the golf course is?

Good luck, “Joe the Pro.” See you at the Antlers country club. Also, I believe Fox Run, Hales Mills, Antlers and Holland Meadows will all thank you for letting Pro go. Also, when you start getting money from Shuttleworth proprietors, then worry about golf course numbers. See you at Antlers.
