Hannah Klingbeil of Schuylerville, Maddie Montgomery of Queensbury and Chloe LaFaro of Emma Willard took the first three spots in the girls' Alpine slalom competition Monday at the state skiing championships at Bristol Mountain.
Klingbeil had a combined 1:39.16 after going 50.58 in her first run and 48.58 in her second run. Those were the fastest times in each run.
Montgomery finished with a combined 1:44.33, and LaFaro finished with a two-run 1:44.59. Other Section II competitors included Alexa Moynihan of Albany Academy (ninth, 1:47.45), Clair Felton of Ballston Spa (17th, 1:51.35, Hayley Kingman of Queensbury (18th, 1:53.10), and Melissa Taggert of Shenendehowa (21st, 1:53.93).
Hunter Montgomery of Queensbury was the boys' Alpine slalom champion after going 42.85 and 40.68 for a combined 1:23.53.
Ian Montgomery of Stillwater placed fourth (1:24.70) and Patrick Leonard of Shenendehowa was ninth (1:26.35). Other Section II competitors included Nick Fratererigo of Niskayuna (18th, 1:28.62), Tre Rossi of Saratoga Springs (19th, 1:29.20), Evan Toman of CBA (1:29.23) and Andrew Zilka of Saratoga Springs (21st, 1:29.47)
Brian Beyerbach of Queensbury (28:07.3) placed second in the boys' 10-kilometer Nordic event at Gore Mountain.
Mikey Halligan of Saratoga Catholic took seventh (30:15.4.
The Nordic 7.5K girls leaders from Section II were Emily Atamanchuk of Queensbury (fourth, 21:33.6), Bailey Gengel of Queensbury (sixth, 21:43.8) and Madison Relyea of Mayfield (ninth, 22:09.4).
In girls' team scoring, Queensbury was first (50) and Section II was second (230) to Section V (243). In boys' team scoring Queensbury was third (41) and Section II was second (233) to Section V (248).
