A longtime math teacher at Guilderland High School, Warren Bollinger, died in his home sometime over the winter break, Guilderland High School Principal Tom Lutsic said in a note to parents Monday.

Bollinger had served as a teacher at the high school since 1997 and was an adviser for the school's Java computer programming club.

Guilderland police notified the district about the death Monday morning and were investigating, police Capt. Dan McNally said Tuesday.

"We don't believe there is anything suspicious (about Bollinger's death)," McNally added.

Once notified, the district informed students and staff and made social workers available, Lutsic said.

"Our prayers go out to Mr. Bollinger and his family," Lutsic wrote. "As a school community, we all mourn together."
