Schenectady County Community College on Wednesday will host a "human library," where the books are people who share their life experiences and expertise.
Visitors to the human library — which will be available to the public at Begley Library on the SCCC campus from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. — will have a chance to meet one-on-one with a human book who will share what it means to be like them. The goal is to introduce people to different personalities and break down stereotypes.
The human library aims to create a "place where difficult questions are expected, appreciated and answered," according to the Human Library organization's website.
SCCC President Steady Moono, who immigrated to the United States from Zambia as a student in 1981, plans to serve as one of the books, as will other members of the SCCC community.
The event is open to the public, and no reservations are needed to check out a book.
