Schenectady man pleads guilty to gun charge

ALBANY — A 21-year-old Schenectady man pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing a firearm as a felon, U.S. Attorney Grant Jaquith announced in a news release Wednesday night.

Shaiquan Wright, 21, of Schenectady, admitted that he possessed a Raven Arms MP-25 pistol while walking in Schenectady on Sept. 28. The case was investigated by Schenectady police and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, according to the release.  

Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 1, where Wright faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
