I think your March 9 editorial arguing that there is “no rationale” for banning the gun show at the Saratoga City Center misses the mark. If one argues that every proposed bill or gesture will fail to solve the problem of deaths by assault weapons, then we as a society will do nothing. Indeed, that is what we’ve been doing.
What we need to do is change a culture that esteems and celebrates guns at every turn. It will take many small gestures -- and hopefully major legislation -- to do that, but each step along the way can help fight the sense that having guns everywhere is normal.
