ROTTERDAM — Sheriff's deputies are investigating a possible suicide in the Plotter Kill Preserve, Sheriff Dominic Dagostino said.

Crews located the body of a man from Niskayuna near the falls Friday morning, Dagostino said. Delayed by the terrain, they recovered the body around midday.

The search began after a deputy on patrol discovered the man's car in the preserve parking lot at around midnight, Dagostino said.

Deputies ran the plates and made contact with his mother, who said she hadn't seen him since around 6:30 p.m. and that he may be suicidal.

"We did the best we could to check last night," Dagostino said.

The search resumed with daylight Friday morning and with the help of Rotterdam police and area fire departments. They located him shortly afterward.

The investigation was continuing, Dagostino said.
