CLIFTON PARK — Sonic has announced that it will open a drive-in restaurant on Route 146 in the fall.
The 3,700-square-foot Sonic will be the third of its kind in the Capital Region and will be built in Town Plaza, 800 Route 146, Suite 105.
The national fast-food chain will bring an estimated 75 jobs to the area and represents a $1 million investment from the company, according to a press release from Sonic.
Sonic's Latham location opened in July 2015, followed by a Troy Sonic debut in February 2017.
Town Supervisor Phil Barrett noted that DCG Development, a Clifton Park-based real estate company that owns a slew of properties in Saratoga County, including the Town Plaza, has played a large part in allowing both national chains and local businesses to co-exist in town.
"DCG Development is successfully repurposing existing office space, introducing new retail businesses into the Town Center area," Barrett said. "By utilizing existing space, Clifton Park is creating a welcoming environment for both local retail and national chains like Sonic Drive-In to open and flourish."
Sonic plans to conduct a job fair in coming weeks to staff the Clifton Park store.
