High school roundup: Santiago leads ND-BG

Jailene Santiago threw a five-inning no-hitter with 14 strikeouts and three walks Tuesday in Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons’ 15-1 Western Athletic Conference softball win over Schoharie.

Santiago also went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run. Abby Hamilton added two hits, two RBIs and three runs for the Golden Knights (9-1, 9-3).

Mayfield edged Duanesburg 10-9. Bri Hubiak’s walk-off double was apart of a three-run seventh inning for the Panthers (7-1, 8-4).

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk beat Catholic Central 3-1 in a Colonial Council game. Meghan Houk homered and drove in two runs for the Indians.

Calista Phippen tossed a one-hit shutout with 17 strikeouts to propel Ichabod Crane past Schalmont 5-0. Erin Mahar had the hit for the Sabres.

Scotia-Glenville topped Hudson Falls 11-4 in the Foothills Council. Megan Charnews had two hits and four RBIs for the Tartans, while Grace Purvis threw a complete game and recorded three hits and two RBIs.

Columbia won a non-league game with Guilderland (6-7) 8-2. Haley Earing went 2-for-4 with a third-inning grand slam for the Blue Devils (13-3).

Courtney Fraher doubled, singled and drove in six runs, three courtesy of a home run, in Greenwich’s 13-2 win over Hartford-Fort Edward. Helen Smith added two hits and two RBIs.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake beat Lansingburgh 10-0 behind a home run and four RBIs from McKenzie Konik. Courtney Kruzikas added three RBIs.

Ballston Spa beat Shaker 10-2 in the Suburban Council Monday. Grace Thompson recorded four hits with two doubles and six RBIs for the Scotties.

BASEBALL

James Murphy drove in a pair of runs to lead Niskayuna over Bethlehem 4-1 in the Suburban Council. Aaron Whitley added two hits for the Silver Warriors.

Dan Yankowski struck out 14 batters and tossed a no-hitter in Ichabod Crane’s 3-0 Colonial Council win over Schalmont. Yankowski collected two hits and an RBI as well.

Scotia-Glenville (7-3) beat Johnstown 10-1 in the Foothills Council. Andrew LeMorta earned the win with a 12-strikeout complete game.

Galway scored a Western Athletic Conference win over Duanesburg 8-1. Nick Hanna threw a complete game for the Golden Eagles allowing four hits and one earned run with 11 strikeouts and no walks. Hanna also went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.

Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons topped Schoharie 7-2. Five different hitters recorded singles for the Golden Knights, while Quinn Barton had two singles for the Indians.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo scored seven runs in the sixth inning to turn a 6-1 deficit into an 8-6 win over Canajoharie.

Pat Meehan was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to give the Bulldogs the lead.

New Lebanon beat Bishop Maginn 17-3 in the Central Hudson Valley League. Riley Lynch hit a three-run home run in the win.

Colonie won a non-league contest with South Glens Falls 8-0. Max Jiampetti went 2-for-4 with a double, triple and six RBIs for the Garnet Raiders.

Connor Houle drove in five runs in Waterford-Halfmoon’s 10-0 win over Voorheesville. Michael Talavera and Tom Phelan had three hits apiece for the Fordians.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Niskayuna topped CBA 14-2 in the Suburban Council. Drew Collins recorded four goals and an assist for the Silver Warriors.

Ballston Spa edged Shaker 11-9. Zac Schuette tallied four goals and an assist for the Scotties, while Andrew O’Connor led the Shaker attack with three goals and one assist.

Guilderland topped Troy 15-3. Ryan Garrant collected two goals and five assists for the Dutchmen, while Connor Quimby added three goals and one assist.

Shenendehowa shut out Albany 26-0 behind four goals each from Drew Vanheusen and Dean Cannon.

John Hawkins scored eight goals in Columbia’s 17-4 win over Averill Park. Owen Stefanko added four goals and five assists.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake beat Colonie 17-4. Mike Levan and Ty McHerron tallied four goals and three assists each for the Spartans.

In the Foothills Council, Queensbury beat Glens Falls 20-7. Dawson LaLuna had four goals for the Spartans (8-0, 13-1) and Alex Chirgwin added three goals and five assists.

Jared Fisher scored five goals and added three assists to lead South Glens Falls over Scotia-Glenville 17-6.

Greenwich beat Voorheesville 7-3 in a non-league matchup. Lewis Pemrick powered the Witches’ attack with three goals and two assists.

Saratoga Springs beat Schenectady 17-6. Patrick Ladd anchored the Blue Streaks with three goals and four assists.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake bested Colonie 15-4. Lauren Hopsicker led the Spartans with five goals.

McKenzie Ballard collected eight goals and five assists in Shenedehowa’s 25-3 win over Albany. Kara Gray added five goals and two assists.

Saratoga Springs topped Shenendehowa 19-8 on Monday. Katie Silver recorded four goals and two assists for the Blue Streaks, while Katie Wendell added three goals and five assists.

Bethlehem scored a non-league win over Burr and Burton Academy 21-2. Sophie Glassman tallied four goals and one assist, while four other Eagles scored three goals.

On Monday, Cathlic Central edged Emma Willard 7-6 in the Colonial Council. Hannah Field had two goals and two assists for the Crusaders.

In the Colonial Council, Queensbury beat Scotia-Glenville 80-61. For Queensbury, Isabel Caprood finished first in the 100 hurdles (15.5) and the 100 (12.98) and Morgan Willis finished first in the discus throw (79-11.5) and the shot put (32-04). For Scotia-Glenville, Laura Meade finished first in the 400 (1:01.6), the 200 (26.9) and led the 1,600 relay to first (4:12.6).
