Albany resident and Syracuse University graduate Sawyer Cresap was crowned the 2018 Tulip Queen at this weekend's Albany Tulip Festival in Washington Park.

The Tulip Court members were welcomed by Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan and 2017 Tulip Queen Ashley Loggins.

The 23-year-old Cresap has a bachelor's degree in environmental policy and works as a stewardship and volunteer coordinator at the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy.

She has served in AmeriCorps, volunteered as an art instructor with 4H, and assisted locally with the Ronald McDonald House. According to her Tulip Court biography, Cresap is an avid outdoors enthusiast who loves running, hiking as well as painting and drawing. She said she hopes to inspire others' curiosity about the world and the community around them through nature and literacy.

Also this weekend, June MacClelland of Wilton was crowned Mother of the Year at the festival.
