COLONIE -- Two people have been arrested in connection with an allegedly racially motivated road rage incident, according to state police and Gazette news gathering partner CBS6.
Phillip O. Quandt Jr., 50, and Kristen P. Wright, 51, both of Watervliet, face one count of second-degree criminal mischief, a felony, along with misdemeanor reckless endangerment and menacing.
The incident spanned Alternate Route 7 in Colonie and north and south on Interstate 87 on the afternoon of May 10.
A state police release did not describe the incident further, but CBS6 identified the victims as Natia Shim and her son Nace, of Troy. They described the incident to the station as racially motivated, that it involved the attackers identifying themselves as white supremacists, used the n-word against the pair and damaged their car with baseball bats and frying pans. The victims described a number of men as being involved.
Quandt and Wright were arraigned and ordered held on bail, Quandt on $10,000, Wright on $5,000.
The investigation is continuing, state police said. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact state police investigators at 518-783-3211.
