SCHENECTADY -- A man was shot Saturday on State Street, police said.

The 33-year-old man was taken to Ellis Hospital for treatment of wounds that are not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

The incident happened just after noon Saturday near the corner of State and Hulett streets, police said. Police received a report of shots fired and arrived to find the victim nearby on the property of Mohawk Ambulance Service suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest.

Members of the department's evidence technician unit processed the scene and the case remained under investigation on Sunday, police said.
