CLIFTON PARK — A Halfmoon man crashed his SUV into two box trucks Sunday while driving with a blood-alcohol level more than four times the legal limit, state police said.
The crash happened after his SUV went airborne and landed in the back of the two trucks, troopers said. All three vehicles then soon caught fire.
Eduardo Feliz, 43, was arrested on multiple felonies after a trooper responded to the crash on Route 9 in the parking lot of Floor Source.
As the trooper checked the wreckage for victims, the SUV caught fire. The trooper escaped uninjured, but the flames spread to the trucks, police said.
Authorities soon found Feliz nearby and was determined to be the driver of the vehicle. Troopers determined he had a blood alcohol level of .33. The legal limit to drive is .08. He also had numerous suspensions on his license, police said. Feliz was checked by EMS and Albany Medical Center personnel.
Feliz faces charges of felony driving while intoxicated, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, also a felony, and issued numerous traffic tickets.
He was arraigned and ordered held on $25,000 bail.
