FORT JOHNSON - Three people worked together to rob the Fort Johnson Stewarts Shop at knife-point Monday, state police said.

The three parked in a nearby cemetery, while one went to rob the store and the others waited for his return, police said. No one was hurt.

The incident happened at about 5 p.m. at the store on Main Street in the village. A man threatened the clerk with a knife and took money from the register. He fled on foot north on Lepper Road.

Authorities searched the village, woods and cemetery and soon found clothing and sneakers used in the heist. They also found the three suspects. None of the three had consistent stories about where they'd been, police said.

Troopers questioned them further and the admitted to the robbery. Police found the stolen money, troopers said.

Nicholas B. Angelo, 29, of Amsterdam, faces one count of first-degree robbery, while Robert A. Brumley, 24, of Amsterdam, and Caitlyn M. Starke, 25, of Stillwater, each face felony conspiracy counts. All three also face misdemeanor drug possession counts.

The investigation is ongoing into whether any of the three were involved in other robberies, troopers said.

They were arraigned and ordered held.
