JOHNSTOWN -- Johnstown police on Thursday arrested a city woman and accused her of driving while intoxicated -- just after she had dropped off a child at school.

Police charged Kali J. Lovette, 31, of East State Street with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a felony.

Officers said they were heading to a reported hit-and-run accident at the intersection of North Perry and Mason streets at 8:58 a.m. when they were told a vehicle suspected in the accident was in the Pleasant Avenue School parking lot.

Lovette failed sobriety tests at the scene, police said. She also was booked on charges of endangering the welfare of a child, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and following too close.

Lovette was arraigned and held on $5,000 bail.
