ALBANY COUNTY - A Virginia man wanted for robbery and murder in his home state has been arrested in Albany County, state police said Monday.
Andrew Jeffers, 47, of Roanoke, Va., was picked up in the Hilltowns of Albany County and was at the Albany County Jail Monday, state police said. They found him hiding out there after they received a tip, troopers said. State police did not detail his arrest further in a release.
Jeffers is wanted in Roanoke County, Va., in connection with a May 19 robbery and murder there, state police said. He is one four suspects in that case, police said.
Jeffers has been sought in connection to the shooting death of Virginia woman Amber C. Ross, according to The Roanoke Times, who cited police there.
Two suspects barged into a home there intent on committing a robbery, The Times wrote. A fight then broke out and one of the suspects' gun went off and the gunshot hit Ross. Jeffers alleged role in the incident was unclear, The Times wrote.
