SCHENECTADY -- City police are investigating a shooting that happened shortly after midnight Wednesday.

Officers found a man with multiple gunshot wounds in the area of Cutlet Street and Fifth Avenue, after receiving a call about shots fired in the area at around 12:12 a.m., according to the police report.

The 23-year-old man had wounds to his lower body and legs, police said. He was treated at the scene by Schenectady Fire Department personnel and was taken to Albany Medical Center by Mohawk Ambulance, according to the police statement.

His wounds were not considered life-threatening, police said.

The investigation was ongoing Thursday, and no further details were available.
