Hope America shifts back to the center

Hope America shifts back to the center

Robert Sponable, Schenectady

I’m watching and listening to the left since President Trump was elected. They thought it was a dog-and-pony act at first, until reality sunk in. Since then, they have been throwing every possible crime against him.

I wasn’t a fan of President Obama, but I respected the office and our process. After eight years, the pendulum has swung to the other direction. The photos of children in cages on the border are from 2014 and the Obama’s administration.

The July 1 newspaper was filled with all the things Trump is messing up in the eyes of the left: 1) North Korea hiding a stash of weapons. They don’t name the source, just a vague reference. This is in trying to derail the summit with Kim; 2) The immigration policy — how unfair and costly it is. The fact is that people are bringing their children and putting them into sometimes life-threatening situations. If American citizens put their children at risk, CPS would take the children away. Talk to our Guyanese population in Schenectady. They did it legally; 3) The plight against minorities, being female and African-American.

So do we invade Mexico and wipe out the corruption in that country? Is that our job? Is it our country’s responsibility to house and support every nation’s problems? There’s record low unemployment and companies are paying more for their new hires because they need to sway and entice employees from other companies.

I see that the left is now the party of socialists who want to give everyone free stuff. Check Venezuela and see how that’s going. Where are the Blue Dog Democrats I grew up knowing?

We’re sadly swinging too far from the center. Our country isn’t perfect by any means. Yet, everyone wants to come here, live and create their own American dream. I hope we can find the center again.
