The Niskayuna Town Pool "Wild Turkeys" swim and dive team will conduct its 13th annual swim-athon at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
The swim party will benefit the Donna M. Crandall Foundation.
"Wild Turkey" swimmers have solicited sponsors for the event, which will include swimming, diving and games. Town pool patrons and team members will have the chance to purchase sweets during a bake sale and bid on items at a silent auction.
"My three brothers and I have all participated in this fundraiser over the years," said Derek Wolfe, the team's co-head coach, in a press release. "It's a great event that benefits a great cause."
The Crandall foundation provides support for people living with cystic fibrosis. In addition to providing financial assistance, the foundation provides items that make hospital stays more tolerable.
"I've been participating in this event since I was 4 years old. Now I help run it," said Caroline McGraw, Turkeys' co-head coach. "That's what makes the Niskayuna town pool team and event so special. The goal of the program always has been to teach a lot more than swimming and diving. We focus on leadership and community service, also."
The pool is located at 2682 Aqueduct Road.
