Hoosick Falls native and Broadway veteran Kevin McGuire takes to the Congress Park stage in Saratoga Springs Tuesday at 6 p.m. as the title character in the Saratoga Shakespeare production of "Henry IV."

The founder of Hubbard Hall Theatre in Cambridge, McGuire played Jean Valjean in "Les Miserables" on Broadway and was the male lead in the Toronto production of "The Phantom of the Opera."

After graduating from Hoosac School in Hoosick Falls, McGuire spent a year training in London before returning to the U.S. where he worked at the Williamstown Theatre Festival and the John Houseman Acting Company. He's also studied at the Juilliard School and the Circle-in-the-Square Theatre in New York.

A member of the Capital Region Entertainment Hall of Fame, McGuire has also performed at the Capital Repertory Theatre in Albany, most recently in "She Loves Me." He has a number of Shakespeare credits on his resume, including "Henry IV" at the Denver Center Theatre Company (as an actor) and "Hamlet" at Capital Rep (as the director).

In the Saratoga Shakespeare production of "Henry IV," (parts 1 & 2 combined), cast members will play multiple roles. Sharing the stage with McGuire will be Schenectady native Raya Malcolm, Skidmore grad Woodrow Proctor and Albany's John Romeo. Others include New York City-based actors, Shayne Cameris, Savannah Jackson and Ed Swidey.

While the Saratoga Shakespeare production of "As You Like It" concludes with performances tonight, Friday and Saturday, "Henry IV" will have a limited run, next Tuesday through Saturday. All performances are free and begin at 6 p.m.
