SCHENECTADY - A BMW rolled over on Union Street downtown early Tuesday, coming to rest against the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home near North Jay Street.

There were no injuries from the crash as both people were in the car fled before police arrived.

The incident happened just before 1 a.m. as the car headed west past the Union Inn toward Erie Boulevard. A Gazette reporter at the scene captured early video of the car on its side and bystanders apparently trying to push it upright. The bystanders left as the car leaned against the building and the first officers arrived.

One of the people who had been pushing the car over, a man in a white shirt and dark pants, can be seen opening the driver's side door as the first police siren is heard.

Police could be seen speaking with a man who matched that description a short time later in an alley nearby off North Jay Street.

A police spokesman this morning confirmed no injuries from the crash and that the occupants of the car had been interviewed and the investigation continued. He didn't immediately have further details.
