SCHENECTADY - The man struck and killed by a tractor-trailer last week in Schenectady was identified by police Monday as a 40-year-old from Schenectady.
Dennis Hull was in the crosswalk at State Street and Washington Avenue just after 2 p.m. Thursday when he was hit, police spokesman Sgt. Jeffrey McCutcheon said.
The investigation is continuing, however, no wrongdoing has been found on the part of the driver, McCutcheon said. Police said the truck's driver was not speeding or under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. The driver was identified Monday as Charles Fiorino, 47, of Ballston Spa.
Officials checked and monitored the traffic control devices and all were found to be working correctly, McCutcheon said.
Paramedics treated Hull at the scene and took him to Ellis Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.
Hull worked for area information technology companies as a computer programmer. He also wrote, performed music and in plays, according to his obituary.
"Dennis was a talented, kind, caring and loyal person who always helped a friend in need," his obituary reads.
