SARATOGA SPRINGS -- The man accused of killing another man on July 1 outside a mobile home on Zephyr Lane is facing second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter charges in connection with the incident, according to court documents filed on Tuesday.

Albert Mercer, 62, also faces a felony charge of tampering with physical evidence in connection with the stabbing death of Patrick Collins, of Middle Grove, outside Mercer's home.

The second-degree murder charge carries a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

Saratoga Springs police said at the time of Mercer's arrest that he and Collins, 46, fought on July 1 before Collins' girlfriend drove him to Saratoga Hospital with a stab wound.
