SCHENECTADY — Interstate 890 will be closed intermittently late Thursday night into early Friday morning.
The Department of Transportation said that the closures will come in short, 10-minute intervals, while repairs are made on the Michigan Avenue bridge near Exit 6.
The DOT urged drivers to exercise caution when driving past the roadwork.
"Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone," the release states. "In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver's license."
The work is set to conclude by 6 a.m. Friday.
