Letter: Gazette: Put more focus on local news

Richard Felak, Niskayuna

Can someone please tell me why The Gazette saw fit to use up precious space on the front page of your Aug. 3 edition by publishing a picture with the caption “Traffic is shown at the Williamsburg Bridge in Brooklyn on March 15.”  Was there absolutely nothing else that was more important for us readers to know that day?

Surely this was a complete waste of precious and costly paper and ink — to say nothing about how the caption insulted the intelligence of all your readers by inanely telling them that a bunch of cars on the street is “traffic.” Pray tell, what else could it have been except traffic — and who needs or wants to know if the picture was taken on March 15 or March 16.

In addition, it also reminded us once again that we were reading the New York City Gazette rather than a paper that should always focus as much as possible on the news that is important to us here in the Capital Region -- and not the drivers in Brooklyn.
