ALBANY - An Albany man under the influence of some type of drug left a 1-year-old out in the rain Monday, police said.
Police found the child outside in a stroller at an abandoned home on Third Street. The child was taken to Albany Medical Center for evaluation and later turned over to a guardian, police said.
The incident happened at about 8:15 p.m. Monday at the home in the 600 block of Third Street, police said. Officers received reports of a man passed out in the rear of the address and that the baby was outside unprotected from the rain.
Officers responded and found the man and child. Police identified the man as Andrew Dominski, 40, of Albany. Police also found evidence consistent with heroin use near the scene, but police said it was unknown if that was what Domnski was under the influence of. He was conscious, but groggy, and refused further medical treatment, police said.
Police charged Dominski with one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned and ordered held.
