A one-car rollover late Friday on Charlton Road resulted in the death of a Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School student, according to reports.

Deacon Martucci, 16, of Glenville, was transported following the approximately 10 p.m. crash to Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, where the teen died from his injuries.

Martucci was the driver and lone occupant of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler, which was travelling east on Charlton Road when it crossed the center line and the westbound lane, and stuck several trees near the intersection of Droms Road Extension, authorities said.

Counseling was provided at BH-BL on Saturday. It will be offered at the high school on Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. and Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Additional counseling can be scheduled by contacting  518-399-9141, ext. 83300.

Martucci was going to start his junior year at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, according to school officials.  Martucci was a member of the junior varsity football team last season, and was trying out for the varsity program this year, which had started preseason practices this past week.

“Our sincerest condolences go out to the Martucci family and Deacon’s friends and teammates,” said BH-BL Principal Tim Brunson, in a statement on the district's website.
