Twice, recently, I have read Editor’s Notes after opinion letters claiming that the Daily Gazette prints all political letters received, regardless of the writer’s point of view.
While that may be so now, The Daily Gazette has a past of not doing so. Perhaps the editorial staff is different now and more willing to print differing points of view. But for many years, the political content was extremely one-sided and many peoples’ letters (including many of my own) were circular-filed.
That being said, I hope that The Gazette is willing to exercise some patience of its own with letter writers, as there is trust to be regained for its editors and staff.
There’s still a long way to go with its content being fair and balanced before I will consider it to be “The Locally Owned Voice of the Capital Region,” as I had never considered it to be any part of my voice.
