LAKE LUZERNE - A Vermont man was jailed Monday, facing charges that he attempted to sexually assault a woman in her tent at a Lake Luzerne campground, the Warren County Sheriff's Office said.
Andrew S. Moran, 55, of Chelsea, was arrested on charges of first-degree criminal sexual act and second-degree burglary, both felonies.
Deputies said they were called to the campground in the early morning hours for a report that Moran has entered a woman's tent while she was asleep and sexually assaulted her. The woman awoke, and deputies said that Moran fled the campground on foot. He was apprehended a short time later on state Route 9N.
The woman was not hurt, deputies said. They said Moran and the woman were recently acquainted, but not in a relationship.
Moran was arraigned in Glens Falls City Court and ordered held at the Warren County jail on $5,000 bail.
