SCHENECTADY -- A man is facing charges after he solicited a passing child while exposing himself inside a car in May, authorities said.

Andre Weston, 28, of Rosa Road, turned himself in to police on Sept. 6 on one count each of public lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors, according to court records and his attorney.

Weston is accused of masturbating, with his pants down, in a car near the intersection of East Alley and The Plaza just after 4 p.m. on May 25, according to police accounts included in court documents. While doing so, he asked a passing 13-year-old "for a quickie," according to the police allegations. The court documents are dated Aug. 21.

Weston turned himself in after receiving a letter about the charges in the mail, his attorney Jonathan Cohn said. He was arraigned and was released on his own recognizance. An order of protection was also issued.

Cohn noted Weston pleaded not guilty, but the attorney otherwise would not comment, citing the pending case.
