Thank you for Thomas Short’s Aug. 22 letter. I agree with its headline, that the “Christian right is full of hypocritical people.” So is, for that matter, the Christian left. Why is this? This is because the bulk of Christianity, at least here in the United States, has distanced itself from Jesus — whose name has all the power in it — and the things that are dear to him, such as the new birth, filling with the Holy Spirit, miracles and healing. As a result, Christianity here as a whole now has a form of godliness, but denies the power, Jesus, thereof.

By the way, the non-Christian parts of the right and left who also distance themselves from Jesus are just as hypocritical because hypocrisy comes from weakness.

Don’t want to be a hypocrite? Then stop being weak and start being strong by getting Jesus into, or back into, your stuff. And live the truth: Jesus is alive and well and does supernatural things today.
